Rodeo Science

Horsemanship Classes (require pre-registration)

Get even more horse time at Miracle Ranch by enrolling in our Horsemanship Classes. These classes are offered during mornings or afternoons. Riders need to wear long pants and sturdy shoes with a closed toe and heel.
Western
If you've been to a rodeo or watched a Western on TV, you've seen Western riding. Working in our covered arena, Miracle Ranch wranglers teach campers the basics of safety, equitation (how to sit balanced on a horse) and control. Campers learn to walk, jog and lope their horses.

English
Approximately fifteen percent of our program is English riding. You may have seen an English rider playing polo, performing dressage, stadium-jumping or cross-country jumping. We teach the basics of English riding, including equitation (how to sit balanced on a horse) at the walk, sitting trot, posting trot, two-point position and, sometimes, at the canter. Occasionally, intermediate riders learn jumping.

Trailride
Our most popular horsemanship option takes campers through our wooded trails as they learn about trail safety and how to maneuver their horses through obstacles. Riders use a Western saddle and usually trot by the end of the week.

Horsemanship Track
The first choice of serious horse lovers who want as much riding time as possible. You'll get four hours of nonstop horsemanship fun each day, Monday through Friday. Riders enjoy horse science and ground classes, as well as tons of arena and trail-riding time.
